Arrest Made and Additional Suspect Sought in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) Offense: 5000 Block of Benning Road, Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department\’s Sixth District have announced an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred on Monday, March 2, 2020, in the 5000 block of Benning Road, Southeast.

At approximately 10:03 am, two subjects were involved in a verbal dispute at the listed location. Both subjects brandished firearms and exchanged gunfire. One of the subjects sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The other subject fled the scene.

On Monday, March 2, 2020, 19 year-old Dwayne Antonio McCain, Jr., of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun). A handgun was recovered.

This case remains under investigation.
