Arrest Made in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) and Armed Carjacking (Gun) Offense: 2700 Block of 22nd Street, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District and Agents from the FBI’s Washington Field Office announced an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) and an Armed Carjacking offense that occurred on Sunday, July 21, 2019, in the 2700 block of 22ndStreet, Northeast.
At approximately 7:41 am, the suspect attempted to enter a victim’s vehicle. The victim confronted the suspect, at which time the suspect brandished a handgun and assaulted the victim. The suspect then fled the scene and approached a second victim in her vehicle. The suspect brandished a handgun and demanded the second victim’s vehicle. A third victim attempted to intervene when the suspect shot the third victim. The suspect then fled in the second victim’s vehicle. The first and third victims sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to local area hospitals for treatment.

On Wednesday, August 7, 2019, pursuant to a US District Court arrest warrant, members of the Sixth District Crime Suppression Team arrested 21-year-old Antwann Carter, of Northwest, DC. He has been charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) and Armed Carjacking (Gun).
