Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department\’s Seventh District announced arrests have been made in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, in the 2000 block of 18th Street, Southeast.
At approximately 6:40 am, the suspects and victim were engaged in conversation at the listed location. After the conversation, one of the suspects brandished a handgun and shot at the victim as he was walking away. Both suspects then fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The suspects were apprehended by responding officers. A firearm was recovered.
On Tuesday, May 26, 2020, 29 year-old Raydell Glenn McKinley Johnson, of Northwest, DC, and 29 year-old Michael Steven Speaks, of Southeast, DC, were both arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
