Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District announced arrests have been made in reference to Armed Robbery (Gun) offenses that occurred in the Fifth District.
On Friday, March 13, 2020, in the 1400 block of Downing Street, Northeast at approximately 6:14 pm, three suspects approached a victim and assaulted him. One suspect brandished a handgun and took the victim’s property. The suspects fled the scene. Responding officers apprehended the three suspects.
On Friday, March 13, 2020, a 12 year-old juvenile male, of District Heights, MD, and a 15 year-old juvenile male, of Northeast, DC were arrested and charged with Armed Robbery (Gun). A 14 year-old juvenile male, of Northeast, DC was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery (Gun) and Carrying a Pistol without a License.
After further investigation, detectives learned that the same 12 year-old juvenile male was also the suspect in an Armed Robbery (Gun) offense that occurred on Sunday, March 8, 2020, in the 1300 block of W Street, Northeast. At approximately 6:57 pm, two suspects approached a victim at the listed location. Both of the suspects brandished handguns and demanded the victim’s property. Both suspects fired shots at the victim and took her property. The victim suffered a graze wound and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
On Friday, March 13, 2020, the same 12 year-old juvenile male of District Heights, MD, that was arrested in the above offense was additionally charged with Armed Robbery (Gun) for this offense. This case remains under investigation.
The arrests in these cases were made in consultation with the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia.
