$50B RELIEF for Main Street Act gaining momentum as one of the only bipartisan proposals to be introduced since last COVID package Mayors urge Congress to incorporate legislation into next relief bill
(Washington, DC) – Friday, May 15, at 10:30 am ET, U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) will be joined by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, and Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt for a video press conference to endorse Booker’s bipartisan small business local relief fund, the RELIEF for Main Street Act.
The proposal, which Booker unveiled last month and formally introduced in the Senate today with Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) and Patty Murray (D-WA), would provide $50 billion to seed and scale local relief efforts emerging in cities and towns across the country, targeted toward businesses with fewer than 20 workers or businesses with fewer than 50 workers located in low-income neighborhoods.
The proposal is quickly gaining momentum as one of the only bipartisan proposals to be introduced in Congress since the last COVID-19 relief package was passed last month.
