Mayor Bowser to Proclaim “Coach Neal Henderson Day” Ahead of Hockey Hall of Fame Induction

(Washington, DC) – On Tuesday, December 10, at 5:30 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will proclaim December 12, 2019, “Coach Neal Henderson Day” ahead of Coach Henderson’s induction into the US Hockey Hall of Fame’s Class of 2019. Mayor Bowser will honor Coach Henderson’s lasting contributions to the District’s hockey community as the co-founder of the Fort Dupont Ice Hockey Club, the first minority hockey program in the United States.
In addition to advancing hockey in the District, Coach Henderson has served an integral role in laying the foundation for the NHL’s Hockey is For Everyone initiative, which seeks to drive positive social change and inclusivity throughout the hockey community.
