MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries:
June 8, 2020 to June 15, 2020
(Washington, DC) – Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, June 8, 2020, through Monday, June 15, 2020, MPD detectives and officers recovered 34 firearms in the District of Columbia.

- An Anderson Manufacturing AM-15 .223 caliber rifle and an AR-15 .223 caliber “Ghost Gun” assault rifle were recovered in the 2300 block of Green Street, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 30-year-old William Henry Holeman, of Southeast, D.C., 26-year-old Imani Neal, of Southeast, D.C., 51-year-old Michael Lloyd Jackson, of Southeast, D.C., and 22-year-old Malik Jackson, of Riverdale, MD, for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance. - A Ruger LC-9S 9mm caliber handgun, a Sig Sauer P250 .45 caliber handgun, and a Springfield Armory XD-45 .45 caliber handgun were recovered in the 1400 block of Massachusetts Avenue, Northwest. The following people were arrested: 37-year-old Joshua Heaton, of Clear Spring, MD, and 31-year-old Aaron Wayne David, of Clear Spring, MD, for Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana while Armed, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Carrying a Pistol without a License. - A Smith & Wesson SD40VE .40 caliber handgun was recovered at 1700 block of 16th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Andrew Jamal Shuff, of Southeast, D.C., for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, Felon in Possession, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. - A Ruger P89 9mm caliber handgun, a .40 caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun, a Glock 48 9mm caliber handgun, a .40 caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun, a Taurus G2c 9mm caliber handgun, a Smith & Wesson 4506 .45 caliber handgun, and a Standard Arms 9mm caliber handgun (all pictured below) were recovered in the 300 block of 50th Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 20-year-old Malik Banks, of Southwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Entry, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. - A Glock 30 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 3300 block of Wheeler Road, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 16-year-old male juvenile, of Southeast, D.C., for Robbery, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in a school Zone, and Threat to Kidnap or Injure a Person. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Arnold Simmons, of Temple Hills, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Entry, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana while Armed. - A Taurus PT111 G2 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1500 block of Butler Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Baya Alonzo Lewis, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, National Firearms Act, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Obliterate, Remove, Change, or Alter the Serial Number of a Firearm. The following person was arrested: 20-year-old Mikail Williams, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Felon in Possession, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Shaquan Moore, of Southeast, D.C., Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Felon in Possession, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.
The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
