The Art of a Woman

Formation, is the essence of something, and a woman represents that which is life, ultimately creators of the universe which is the Art of a Woman.  The Art of a Woman goes deeper than the first layer of her epidermis it illuminates and resonates on the canvas through beautiful bold radiant colors capturing the most incredible momentum\’s.  Or the Art of a Woman can be found alongside the stitches and fabrics of one-of-a-kind handbags.

The Art of Mildred Baldwin is timeless creatively crafted with care.  Growing up near Myrtle Beach in South Carolina had an influence on her life.  The ocean warm climate and the southern style of living and growing up a preacher\’s daughter were very strong elements of shaping her visual perception and expressions.  At a very young age Ms. Baldwin was taught to sew by her mother.

Since her arrival to Washington, DC in 1976, attending the Corcoran School of Art, Mildred continues to share her knowledge of painting on a one-on-one basis.  Some of her memoir paintings can take at least 6 to 12 months to complete, however it varies because she can finish one small painting piece in 24 hours.  With a passion for designing bags at the early age of 15, she still is prevalent today,. Although each bag is one-of-a-kind with various precious embellishments, no client has requested diamonds.  The prices of her bags are determined by varying factors with the material being the main factor.

Ms. Baldwin considers her painting\’s to be fine art which is created for memory and presented as a collection primarily shown in gallery settings. Her handbags are also inspired creations which she calls \”wearable or functional art.\”  Ms. Baldwin says, \”I want to be remembered as an artist who was inspired by all that surround me, creating the visual and tangible influences and recreating from memory my life experience.\”
