TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Race to Beat Cancer 5K

On Saturday, September 14, 2019, the Race to Beat Cancer 5K will take place in the District of Columbia. In conjunction with this event, there will be several street closures that motorists should take into consideration.
Emergency No Parking Signs (ENP) will be posted along the entire route of the race (listed below) with no parking restrictions between 6:00 am and 11:00 am.
The following streets will be CLOSED to vehicle traffic from approximately 6:00 am until approximately 12:00 pm (Start/Finish Line):
29th Street between M Street and K Street, NW
The following streets will be CLOSED to vehicle traffic from approximately 7:30 am and 10:30 am (Race):
K Street, NW from 30th Street, NW to 27th Street, NW
27th Street, NW from K Street, NW to Virginia Avenue, NW
Eastbound Whitehurst Freeway from Canal Road, NW to K Street, NW
Potomac River Freeway from 27th Street, NW to Ohio Drive, SW
E Street, NW from Potomac River Freeway to 18th Street, NW
20th Street, NW from Virginia Avenue, NW to F Street, NW
19th Street, NW from Virginia Avenue, NW to F Street, NW
All street closures and listed times are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions.
The public should expect parking restrictions along the street and should be guided by the posted emergency no parking signage. All vehicles that are parked in violation of the emergency no parking signs will be ticketed and towed.
Motorists could encounter possible delays if operating in the vicinity of this event and may wish to consider alternative routes. The Metropolitan Police Department and the D.C. Department of Transportation also wishes to remind motorists in the vicinity of this event to proceed with caution as increased pedestrian traffic can be anticipated.
