Arrest Made in a Homicide: 100 Block of Walnut Street, Northwest

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce an arrest has been made in a homicide that occurred on Friday, July 17, 2020, in the 100 block of Walnut Street, Northwest.

 

At approximately 12:59 am, members of the Fourth District responded to Eastern Avenue and Walnut Street, Northwest, to assist Takoma Park Police with a traffic accident. Upon arrival, officers located two adult male victims, in a vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds. Montgomery Country Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported both victims to an area hospital. One of the victims was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The other victim succumbed to his injuries.

 

The decedent has been identified as 20 year-old Anthony Riley, of Northeast, DC.

 

On Thursday, August 20, 2020, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 16 year-old Quincy Tate Johnson, of Takoma Park, MD. He has been charged as an adult with First Degree Murder While Armed – Felony Murder.

 

This case remains under investigation.
