Arrest Made in a Homicide: 1600 Block of West Virginia Avenue, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce an arrest has been made in connection to a homicide that occurred on Friday, June 14, 2019, in the 1600 block of West Virginia Avenue, Northeast.
At approximately 1:18 am, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located an unconscious adult male victim, inside of a vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 43 year-old Damon Bell, of no fixed address.
On Wednesday, December 11, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 22 year-old Brandon Wiggins, of Northeast, DC, was transported by members of the Major Violator Section’s Fugitive Unit to the Homicide Branch, where he was charged with First Degree Murder While Armed.
This case remains under investigation.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
