Arrest Made in a Homicide: 2500 Block of Elvans Road, Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce an arrest has been made in reference to a homicide that occurred on Sunday, May 31, 2020, in the 2500 block of Elvans Road, Southeast.

 

At approximately 1:02 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

 

The decedent has been identified as 25 year-old Richard Mitchell, of Oxon Hill, MD.

 

On Thursday, June 25, 2020, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Fugitive Regional Task Force (CARFTF) arrested 28 year-old Jonathan Jenkins, of no fixed address. He has been charged with Second Degree Murder.
