Arrest Made in a Homicide: 3000 Block of 30th Street, Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced an arrest has been made in reference to a homicide that occurred on Saturday, July 20, 2019, in the 3000 block of 30th Street, Southeast.
At approximately 3:47 am, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim unconscious, unresponsive and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. After all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 23 year-old Delwaun Lyons, of Southeast, DC.
On Thursday, August 22, 2019, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 32 year-old Andre Smith, of no fixed address. Smith has been charged with First Degree Murder while armed (Premeditated).
