Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announces an arrest has been made in reference to two Armed Robbery (Knife) offenses that occurred in the First District.
On Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at approximately 9:16 pm, the suspect approached the victim in the 1400 block of Duncan Street, Northeast. The suspect brandished a knife and demanded the victim’s property. The victim complied and the suspect fled the scene.
On Saturday, February 8, 2020, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 17 year-old Makel Barnes, of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged as an adult with the above offense.
As a result of the detectives’ investigation, Barnes was additionally charged with the below offense.
On Thursday, February 6, 2020, at approximately 7:22 pm, the suspects approached the victim in the 100 block of 15th Street, Northeast. One of the suspects brandished a knife and demanded the victim’s property. The victim complied and the suspects fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.
This case remains under investigation.
