Arrests Made in Robbery Offenses

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division announced arrests in recent robbery cases in Washington, DC.

 

First District:

 

  • On Saturday, October 17, 2020, 57 year-old John Baker, of Hyattsville, MD, was arrested for an Assault with Intent to Rob while Armed (Knife) offense that occurred on Saturday, October 17, 2020, in the 600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast. CCN: 20-148-821
    • At approximately 8:14 pm, the suspect entered an establishment at the listed location. The suspect brandished a knife, threatened the victims and took property. The suspect was apprehended by responding officers.

 

Second District:

 

  • On Sunday, October 18, 2020, 39 year-old Jamaar Taylor, of no fixed address, was arrested for a Robbery (Force and Violence) offense that occurred on Sunday, October 18, 2020, in the 1400 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northwest. CCN: 20-149-298
    • At approximately 6:20 pm, two suspects approached the victim at the listed location. One of the suspects assaulted the victim and both suspects took property from the victim then fled the scene. One of the suspects was apprehended by responding officers. This case remains under investigation.
  • On Tuesday, October 20, 2020, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 32 year-old Antoinette Nixon, of Northeast, DC, was arrested for a Robbery (Snatch) offense that occurred on Sunday, May 24, 2020, in the 2200 block of Wisconsin Avenue, Northwest. CCN: 20-077-905
    • At approximately 5:20 pm, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect attempted to take the victim’s property but the victim resisted. During the struggle, the victim’s keys fell to the ground. The suspect took the victim’s vehicle keys and fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.

 

Third District:

 

  • On Monday, October 19, 2020, 28 year-old Tyrone Hall of Northwest, DC, was arrested for an Armed Robbery (Knife) offense that occurred on Saturday, October 17, 2020, in the 1900 block of 7th Street, Northwest. CCN: 20-148-927
    • At approximately 9:50 pm, three suspects approached the victim at the listed location. One of the suspects brandished a knife and demanded the victim’s property. The suspects assaulted the victim, took the victim’s property, and then fled the scene. The victim sought treatment at a local hospital. This case remains under investigation.

 

Fourth District:

 

  • On Friday, October 23, 2020, 49 year-old Simon Soloman, of no fixed address, was arrested for an Armed Robbery (Gun) offense that occurred on Friday, October 23, 2020, in the 700 block of Decatur Street, Northwest. CCN: 20-151-664
    • At approximately 2:02 am, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s property. The victim complied and the suspect fled the scene. The suspect was apprehended by responding officers.

 

Fifth District:

 

  • On Wednesday, October 21, 2020, 30 year-old James Demyers, of no fixed address, was arrested for a Robbery (Snatch) offense that occurred on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, in the Unit block of Florida Avenue, Northeast. CCN: 20-139-098
    • At approximately 11:55 am, the suspect entered an establishment at the listed location. The suspect snatched US currency from a cash register and then fled the scene.

 

Sixth District:

 

  • On Monday, October 29, 2020, pursuant to a DC Superior Court custody order, a 15 year-old juvenile male, of Northeast, DC, was arrested for a Robbery (Snatch) offense that occurred on Friday, September 11, 2020, in the 3800 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast. CCN 20-130-014
    • At approximately 2:46 pm, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect snatched the victim’s vehicle keys and then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.
