Coronavirus Data for June 23, 2020

Washington, DC – The District’s reported data for Tuesday, June 23, 2020 includes 34 new positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the District’s overall positive case total to 10,128.

The District reported four additional COVID-19 related deaths.

  • 45-year-old female
  • 64-year-old male
  • 74-year-old male
  • 90-year-old male

Tragically, 541 District residents have lost their lives due to COVID-19.

The District’s count of sustained decrease in community spread resets at the beginning of each new Phase, and is currently at Day 0 of Phase Two based on data through June 22. That data is represented in the chart below.

The District currently has 86 intensive care unit (ICU) beds available in hospitals out of 345 total ICU beds.

  • 259 total ICU inpatients
  • 58 COVID-19 positive ICU patients

Guidance has been published for healthcare providers, employers and the public to provide information on what to do if you have been diagnosed with or are a contact of someone who has COVID-19.

Residents should take the following actions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. An alcohol-based hand sanitizer can be used if soap and water are not available
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
