DC Voice contributor Branson Brooks had the opportunity to speak with Derek Gray, an archivist at the People’s Archive at the D.C. Public Library. He specializes in the African American experience throughout the district.
During their conversation, Gray talked about his riveting book “The NAACP in Washington DC: From Jim Crow to Home Rule” while giving insight into quite interesting facts about popular Black figures in the government including W.E.B Du Bois, Martin Luther King, and Hellen Burroughs.
The interview also dove into what made him want to create the book in the first place and how it feels to now be the author of such an historical piece of literature.
