(Washington, DC) – On Monday, June 7, at 11:30 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will visit the Douglass Community Center to highlight the $59 million investment in her Fiscal Year 2022 budget proposal in Building Blocks DC. Building Blocks DC is a whole-of-government, public health approach to reducing and preventing gun violence and building safer, stronger neighborhoods.
Mayor Bower will also introduce Building Blocks DC grant availabilities aligned with the Office of Gun Violence Prevention (GVP), led by Director Linda Harllee Harper. The grants will support individuals and community organizations who work to engage residents and communities at risk of gun violence.
Building Blocks DC, which includes a Gun Violence Prevention Emergency Operations Center, was launched in February 2021 and represents a first-of-its-kind approach to addressing gun violence.
