Agents from the Metropolitan Police Department’s (MPD) Internal Affairs Bureau are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Friday, November 8, 2019, in the 300 block of Anacostia Road, Southeast.
At approximately 6:42 pm, an off-duty uniformed officer was working part-time employment at the listed location when the officer encountered several individuals. At least one of the individuals was armed with a firearm. Fearing for his safety, the officer discharged his department issued firearm. An adult male and a teenage male were both struck by gunfire and were taken to local hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The off-duty officer was not injured and has been placed on administrative leave, pursuant to MPD policy.
