MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries: July 6, 2020 to July 13, 2020

(Washington, DC) – Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, July 6, 2020, through Monday, July 13, 2020, MPD detectives and officers recovered 22 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Monday, July 6, 2020

  • A 9mm caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun was recovered in the 700 block of 13th Street, Southeast. CCN: 20-097-0844
  • A Charter Arms .380 caliber revolver was recovered in the 2200 block of M Street, Northeast. CCN: 20-097-628

 

Tuesday, July 7, 2020

  • A Davis Industries P380 .380 caliber handgun was recovered in the 200 block of K Street, Southwest. The following person was arrested: 15-year-old male juvenile, of Southwest, D.C., for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. CCN: 20-098-344
  • A Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2300 block of New York Avenue, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 22-year-old Marcus Bailey, of Northeast, D.C., for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Leaving after Colliding, and Attempt to Flee from a Law Enforcement Officer. CCN: 20-098-319
  • A Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun and a Glock 30 .45 caliber handgun (both pictured below) were recovered in the 800 block of Oglethorpe Street, Northeast. CCN: 20-098-435

  • A Cobra Patriot .45 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 3000 block of 30th Street, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 27-year-old Aaron McKinnley Bynum, of Southeast, D.C., and 26-year-old Donnell Bynum, of Alexandria, VA, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of an Open container of Alcohol. CCN: 20-098-405

  • A Glock Austria 20 .10mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 100 block of Irving Street, Southwest. The following person was arrested: 28-year-old Davon Malcom Turner, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Destruction of Property, and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm. CCN: 20-098-459
  • A Smith & Wesson MP40 Shield .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1300 block of Alabama Avenue, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 31-year-old Doy Domain Dunbar, of Southeast, D.C., and 27-year-old Aaron Christopher Johnson, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Destruction of Property, and Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol. CCN: 20-098-494

  • A Glock 30 .45 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 3900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 28-year-old Dallas Williams, of Southeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, National Firearms Act, Resisting Arrest, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. CCN: 20-100-084

  • A Glock 45 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1300 block of Southern Avenue, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 33-year-old D’Angelo Delente Pierre, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. CCN: 20-100-221

  • A Glock 30 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 4500 block of Benning Road, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 24-year-old Louis Wesson, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Simple Assault, Obstructing/Preventing/Interference with Requests from Law Enforcement, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm. CCN: 20-100-407

  • A Smith & Wesson M&P .40 caliber handgun and a Springfield Armory X-9 .40 caliber handgun were recovered in the 2700 block of Bruce Place, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 29-year-old Anton Raphael Spencer, of Southeast, D.C., 33-year-old Renardo Ferman Billings, of Landover, MD, and 31-year-old Anthony Hardy, of Southeast, D.C., for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Felon in Possession, Fleeing from a Law Enforcement Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Parole Violation, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. CCN: 20-100-972

 

 

 

 

It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
