MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries:

June 15, 2020 to June 22, 2020

 

(Washington, DC) – Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, June 15, 2020, through Monday, June 22, 2020, MPD detectives and officers recovered 16 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Tuesday, June 16, 2020

  • A 9mm “Ghost Gun” handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 500 blocks of Newcomb Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old John Stewart, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. CCN: 20-089-104
  • A .357 “Ghost Gun” handgun was recovered in the 3600 block of Jay Street, Northeast. CCN: 20-089-164

 

Wednesday, June 17, 2020

  • A Smith & Wesson SD40VE .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered at 1000 block of 6th Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Delrico Jermaine Washington, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Felon in Possession, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. CCN: 20-089-556
  • A Davis Industries P380 .380mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2900 block of 30th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Alicia Robinson, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm. CCN: 20-089-478

 

Thursday, June 18, 2020

  • An EP Armory AR-15 .223 caliber assault rifle and a Kel-Tec P-11 9mm caliber handgun (both pictured below) were recovered in the 900 block of Decatur Street, Northwest. The following people were arrested: 29-year-old Winfred Demarkus McClain, of Northwest, D.C., and 20-year-old Alanda McClain, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon in Possession, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed. CCN: 20-089-962
  • A Smith & Wesson MP Shield 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1300 block of Congress Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 27-year-old Jaron Leon Evans, of Bladensburg, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm. CCN: 20-089-894
  • A Palmetto PA-15 .223 caliber assault rifle was recovered in the 700 block of 12th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 46-year-old Frank Moore, of Temple Hills, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Simple Assault, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. CCN: 20-089-668
  • A Hi-Point 995 9mm caliber rifle was recovered in the 700 block of Tuckerman Street, Northwest. The following people were arrested: 21-year-old Kendell Gregory-Dew, of Greenbelt, MD, and 22-year-old Keyon Moffett, of Bowie, MD, for Carrying a Rifle or Shotgun outside a Home or Business, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. CCN: 20-089-907

  • A “Ghost Gun” assault rifle was recovered in the 900 block of 14th Street, Southeast. CCN: 20-090-734

 

Sunday, June 21, 2020

  • A Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 3700 block of Jamison Street, Northeast. CCN: 20-090-904
  • A Century Arms Micro Draco 7.62 x 39 caliber assault rifle (pictured below) was recovered in the 4500 block of Quarles Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 24-year- old James Quigley, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance. CCN: 20-090-907
  • A Taurus .44 caliber revolver and a Stoeger Cougar 8000F 9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 1100 block of 48th Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 38-year-old Ronnell W. Hardy, of Capitol Heights, MD, and 30-year-old Anthony Gerald Barnes, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Destruction of Property, Fleeing from a Law Enforcement Officer in a Motor Vehicle, and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. CCN: 20-090-952
  • A Beretta APX 9mm caliber handgun and a Ruger LCP .380 caliber handgun were recovered in the 800 block of Connecticut Avenue, Northwest. CCN: 20-091-196

 

 

 

 

 

It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
