MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries: March 22, 2021 to March 29, 2021

Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off our streets. From Monday, March 22, 2021, through Monday, March 29, 2021, MPD detectives and officers recovered 30 firearms in the District of Columbia.

  • A Glock 29 10mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1400 block of Bruce Place, Southeast. CCN: 21-036-918

 

  • A .45 caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun was recovered in the 2900 block of Knox Place, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 35-year-old Dominic Burroughs, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon In Possession, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of Crack Cocaine while Armed. CCN: 21-036-919

 

  • A Springfield XD .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 2900 block of Knox Place, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 38-year-old Terrence Boyd, of Capitol Heights, MD, for Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Felon in Possession, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession With Intent to Distribute Marijuana while Armed, and Possession of Adderall while Armed. CCN: 21-036-920

 

  • A Mossberg .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle was recovered in the 1500 block of Upshur Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Javez Sanchez, of Silver Spring, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. CCN: 21-037-043

 

  • A Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 3500 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Kenneth Dews, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, National Firearms Act, and Possession With Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed . CCN: 21-036-948

 

  • A 9mm caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun was recovered in the 3300 block of 14th Place, Southeast. The following person was arrested: A 17-year-old juvenile male, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession With Intent to Distribute PCP while Armed. CCN: 21-037-060

  • A 9mm caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun was recovered in the 4300 block of 3rd Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 20-year-old Tyrell Reynolds, of Southeast, DC, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Receive or Possess Firearm Which is Not Identified by Serial Number, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Unlawful Possession Ammunition, and the National Firearms Act. CCN: 21-037-480

 

  • A Kimber Micro 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 3300 block of Wheeler Road, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 20-year-old Daron Thorne, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Public Consumption of Marijuana. CCN: 21-037-539

  • A Glock 29 10mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 700 block of Fairmont Street, Northwest. The following people were arrested: 25-year-old Christopher Malcom, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Misuse of Tags, and Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol; and 28-year-old Levite Lagarde, of Northeast, DC, for Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Felon in Possession, and Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol; CCN: 21-037-544

  • A Bersa BP9CC 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1400 block of Good Hope Road, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 31-year-old Terrence Branham, of Capitol Heights, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Fugitive from Justice.   • A Glock 17 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1500 block of Benning Road, Northeast. The following people were arrested: 30-year-old Tavisha Alston, of Southeast, DC, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and No Permit; and 29-year-old Patrick Gonzalves, of Northeast, DC, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Felon in Possession. CCN: 21-039-946

 

It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information October be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
