The History of DC is Slipping Away

\"Chocolate

Without a question, Washington, DC has been known for some unfavorable reasons in the past, The Murder Capitol being one of them. Another name DC was popular for as well was Chocolate City. This name was established because no matter what part of DC you were in, the Black community was thick. From North West (Uptown) to South West (James Creek) to South East (Stanton Road) to North East (Trinidad), the community resembled the color of chocolate. If you visit any of these communities today, this is no longer the case. It’s more like cream with a residue of chocolate sprinkles. The day of having maybe one or two other nationalities in the Urban Community is a thing of the past. Now, its shared with many others and looks like how suburbia looked in the 80’s.
