Toasting a Top-Notch Talent with Tunnel Vision

Let’s get lost in thought

Your job is hosting a black-tie gala at an exclusive hotel.

Celebrating the company’s successes with the coworkers that feels the most like family is highly important to you. Still, heavy reliance on a beauty troupe to make you feel the most beautiful you’ve ever been is just as vital.

In the Baltimore area and formulating the perfect lineup for your gala glam?

I suggest you book with KemiKultureUnits, who has a service list including wig customizations, installs, revamps, sew-ins, highlight preferences, and various aspects of styling–crimps, silk presses, curls, etc.

Versatility in Style

Aiming for a pristine and jaw-dropping look, you want to appear as if you were a wedding guest in Jumping the Broom. But you aren’t sure if you want your hair to include blonde highlights or if it’s best to stick with a natural brown color. With only a few weeks left to work out the details behind your appearance, you’re also back and forth on deciding between an updo with wand curls and a silk press.

Opting for a wig to protect the coils you’ve been growing for a few years, you’re left with many options and a stylist who will help to satisfy the glamour you hope to exude.

Now this isn’t just a review of the founder’s services, and I’m not just having you envision the scenario of your dreams for no reason. I’m also here to celebrate the accomplishments of one of my closest friends and share a bit about a well-polished small business.

Oluwatosin Omoshebi developed her hair styling and wig installation business, Kemi Kulture Units, in 2019 while a freshman attending Notre Dame of Maryland University.

Not allowing the mental strain from courses of rigor to distract her from achieving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing this past May, she’s also recently become certified as an RN, with her specialty aligning with postpartum care.

“Concerning balance between my business and occupation, I work based on my flexibility and areas of space in my schedule,” she said. “For example, sometimes I allow clients to book for the weekends that I am off or after work if I am less busy. My schedule changes based on the demands of my priorities and time to care for myself.”

Education spearheading her triumphs within the medical field, hairstyling is another personal interest she’s been unafraid to develop into a serious career.

“I just made a hobby into a business,” Omoshebi said, having styled hair for herself and other family members in her youth.

Independent and Prospering

Over time, she was able to grow enough dependence on herself to work for others professionally. Omoshebi cites her loved ones and God as a source of motivation when overcoming “dry seasons” with a smaller clientele, which occurred most during the opening months of her business.

With the encouragement of her support system, she continuously promoted herself until she could become booked regularly, which only added to her experience and her service list.

Having hosted her own wig seminar at a distinguished college earlier in the year, Omoshebi has been able to operate her brand and livelihood with a self-disciplined focus.
