On Saturday, September 14, 2019, The Fast and the Fierce 5K will take place in the District of Columbia. In conjunction with this event, there will be several street closures that motorists should take into consideration.
The following streets will be posted as EMERGENCY NO PARKING and CLOSED to vehicular traffic for the event from approximately 5:00 am to 12:00 pm:
400 block of 13th Street, NW
Pennsylvania Avenue, NW between 9th and 14th Street, NW
12th Street, NW between E Street and Constitution Avenue, NW
11th Street, NW between E Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
10th Street, NW between E Street and Constitution Avenue, NW
The following streets will be posted as EMERGENCY NO PARKING for the RACE ROUTE from 6:00 am to 11:00 am and CLOSED to vehicle traffic from approximately 8:00 am to 11:00 am:
START: Pennsylvania Avenue, NW between 12th and 13th Street, NW
Proceed East on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to 3rd Street, NW
Turn South onto 3rd Street, NW
Turn West onto Independence Avenue on the North side
Proceed to 7th Street and the turnaround at 7th Street & Independence Avenue
Proceed Eastbound on the South side of Independence Avenue, SW to 4th Street, SW;
Turn South on 4th Street, SW and proceed to D Street, SW;
Turn East on D Street, SW
Turn North on 3rd Street, SW
Continue North on 3rd Street, SW/NW to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.
Turn West onto Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
FINISH: Proceed to Pennsylvania and 12th Street, NW and disband
All street closures and listed times are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions.
The public should expect parking restrictions along the street and should be guided by the posted emergency no parking signage. All vehicles that are parked in violation of the emergency no parking signs will be ticketed and towed.
Motorists could encounter possible delays if operating in the vicinity of this event and may wish to consider alternative routes. The Metropolitan Police Department and the D.C. Department of Transportation also wishes to remind motorists in the vicinity of this event to proceed with caution as increased pedestrian traffic can be anticipated.
