Chuck Brown Memorial Park, on 20th and Franklin Streets N.E., was packed Saturday for the 5th Annual Chuck Brown Day. It was hot. It was humid. It rained. But everybody stayed to the end and nobody was disappointed as go-go made its case to become the official music of the District of Columbia.
Mayor Muriel Bowser, Ward 5 Councilman Kenyan McDuffie, and Ward 7 Councilman Vincent Gray addressed the crowd before introducing the Chuck Brown Band and reinforing every native Washingtonian\’s position that go-go is a part of DC culture that won\’t be trampled under the changing demographics.
But the day wasn\’t about politics. It was all about food, fun, music, dancing and remembering the Godfather of Go-go!
