Gallaudet Gets a New President

Gallaudet University has had 10 Presidents during the duration of its existence. On January 1, 2016 they will have their 11th President. This President\’s distinction from the rest is she\’s a female. The Board of Trustees has named Roberta “Bobbi Cordano as the University’s next President. “In making the announcement, Gallaudet Board of Trustees Chair Heather Harker said, \”We are delighted to have selected Ms. Cordano to become the 11th President of Gallaudet. As our students are connecting with our vibrant community, discovering their academic and career aspirations, and influencing conversations and their futures, Ms. Cordano will be the kind of president to lead transformational change at the university. She\’s the right person at the right time for Gallaudet.”

 

“Gallaudet University, federally chartered in 1864, is a bilingual, diverse, multicultural institution of higher education that ensures the intellectual and professional advancement of deaf and hard of hearing individuals through American Sign Language and English. Gallaudet maintains a proud tradition of research and scholarly activity, and prepares its graduates for career opportunities in a highly competitive, technological, and rapidly changing world.” It has been a promising Institution of Higher Learning in Ward 5 since its inception.
