Having spent a significant portion of my youth just one block from H Street, it holds a special place in my memory. It has changed a lot since then, but in many ways, it still holds that sense of community.
That community looks a lot different from the one I remember as a kid growing up on the corner of 10th & G Streets NE. Nevertheless, the sights and sounds of the 2026 H Street Festival warmed my heart.
