Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced an arrest has been made in reference to a fatal shooting that occurred on Saturday, August 3, 2019, in the 1500 block of North Capitol Street, Northeast.
At approximately 10:21 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the 1500 block of North Capitol Street, Northeast, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 46-year-old Wendell Youngblood, of Baltimore, MD.
On Monday, August 12, 2019, 23-year-old Meisha Hines, of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with First Degree Murder while Armed.
Additionally, Hines was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Bat) for an offense that occurred on Sunday, August 11, 2019, at approximately 2:30 am, in the Unit block of Florida Avenue, Northwest.
The suspect approached the victim at the listed location. The suspect struck the victim with a bat then fled the scene. The victim received treatment at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
