More than three decades after the highly publicized trial of former Mayor Marion Barry, Washington is once again watching a major criminal trial involving one of Ward 8’s most prominent political figures.
Councilmember Trayon White’s federal bribery trial is beginning. The DC Voice has followed this story from White’s historic expulsion from the D.C. White has pleaded not guilty and is presumed innocent. Whatever the verdict, this will become one of the most closely watched D.C. political trials since Marion Barry—and another defining chapter in the complicated relationship between Ward 8, its elected leaders, and the rest of Washington, D.C.
